Our Wellness Retreat is fast approaching this summer! We thought we would share one of the snacks we are planning to preparing for the kids. We found this recipe from the Weelicious website and thought it would not only be a healthy snack, but also a lot of fun for the kids to make. We are having them create their own wands by having cut up fruit placed in different bowls so the kids can pick out their fruit and put it on their skewers.

Fruit wands can be prepared ahead of time and placed in a watermelon or something else creative! Fruit wands can be assembled up to one day in advance.

After making the wands, lay them out on a baking sheet, making sure to keep space between each wand. Layer parchment paper or plastic wrap between each layer of wands. Keep in the refrigerator overnight. This recipe makes 40 wands and takes 30 minutes, enjoy!

Ingredients for Fruit Wands:

  1. 4 star fruit
  2. 1 small watermelon
  3. 1 bunch red grapes
  4. 1 bunch green grapes
  5. 1 cantaloupe
  6. 1 pineapple, peeled
  7. 40 small to medium strawberries
  8. 40 bamboo skewers
  9. Preparation: Cut the cantaloupe in half and remove the seeds. Using a melon baller, make 40 balls out of the cantaloupe. OR, slice the cantaloupe into 1/2-inch slices and cut out shapes using a small cookie cutter. Cut the watermelon in half and, using a melon baller, make 40 balls. Cut pineapple into 1/2-inch slices, then cut the slices into 1/2-inch cubes. Cut each star fruit into 10 1/4-inch slices. Assemble the fruit wands by gently sliding each piece of fruit onto each skewer in this order: 1 Slice of Star fruit (this becomes the star on top), 1 Ball of Watermelon, 1 Red Grape, 1 Green Grape, 1 Piece of Cantaloupe, 1 Cube of Pineapple, 1 Strawberry. Serve.
